and the winner is...

NAMIBIA!

That is where I'm head in a few short weeks. I'm busy trying to get my stuff together for a PC passport and my visa, thinking of packing lists and turning in notice to my places of employment. It's crazy!

Keep reading the below posts since there are things there for you to respond to. Leave a comment, let me know your questions and thoughts!

waiting and choices...

It's Wednesday and I'm still waiting for my invite to be mailed. Everyday that passes with no invite feels like one less day I have to wrap things up and get ready. The stress is taking a toll but I'm doing my best to hang in there. What else is there to do?

As I wait, I am doing the few things I can do. One of those is trying to determine what books I will take with me. I am a book junkie but I know that I can only take 3-4 books with me. That is like telling a fish he can have 1/2 an inch of water, or a bird that he can only fly for a minute a day. There are several books I have that are new (haven't been read by me before) not to mention the over 20 that I try to read once per year. It's going to be a hard choice.

Before I tell you all the books I'm set on taking, I want to hear from you. What books would you take if you could only take 3? What criteria would you use? Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

the new me...

Welcome to my new blog. I really like the look of this, many thanks to Ro at Ciao! My Bella for the great design (and the super quick turn around!).

So, I'm still waiting for the invite, which should come this week. There is so much I can't do until I get that little letter. But the good news is that I did find a home for my bird today. A co-worker has wanted a bird for a while and I think Pippin will like her a lot. I have to burn a cd for him to take with him, he loves listening to the Kingston Trio and I don't want to deprive him of that!

So, I still have no idea where I'm going to live for the next two years but I have a total peace about that.

That's all for tonight. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have that lovely email saying my status has been update! I'll keep you updated.

let's start at the beginning...

My name is Sara and I've been nominated for service in the Peace Corps. I was nominated for service in Africa as an English teacher leaving in November, 2006. At the moment, all is on-track for me to receive my invite shortly (this week if all goes well).

To simplify life, I'm not going to do mass emails or letters home (individual letters and emails, yes), rather, I'm going to journal here as time and internet access permits. And if possible, I'll post photos here (or with Shutterfly if I can't do it here).

I hope you come often and check in. I look forward to having you sojourn with me!
